The St. James Regional Catholic School choir had the opportunity to sing with the St. James High Alumni choir, the Blue & Gray Voices on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Our talented choir's voices blended beautifully with the rich tones of our namesake's choir. The Blue & Gray Voices is a music ministry of community service. The SJR choir is led by music teacher Mrs. Katie Dunn. We are grateful for our students to have this chance to spread holiday cheer!
Our Student Council Executive Board spent a morning volunteering at the St. James High Alumni Association's annual turkey drive! Our students helped load and distribute turkeys to churches, veteran posts, and other charitable organizations. The STJ Alumni Association's annual effort collects and distributes over a 1,000 turkeys every Thanksgiving for families in our area. We are proud to partner with our big Bulldogs in service to community!
This week St. James Regional kicked off the after school club year! New offerings this year include American Sign Language Club, Board Game Club, and Caritas service club, while perennial favorites like Choir, Ukele, Lego Challenge Club, and Speakers & Scholars Club return for another year of fun. 24 Club will also begin meeting after a few years off! We thank our volunteer moderators who offer these activities free of charge to our families.
St. James Regional proudly shares that we have 5 students who qualified for consideration for the prestigious Neumann Scholarship, which is a 4-year, full tuition scholarship to the Archdiocesan high school of the scholar's choice! John, Steven, Sophia, Mina, and Gabe are among the very highest achieving and academically talented students in Delaware County. We are so proud to call them Bulldogs! The Neumann Scholarship is sponsored by the Connelly Foundation and named after St. John Neumann, fourth bishop of Philadelphia and founder of our parochial school system. Since 1995, the top students from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's 112 elementary schools have been invited to compete for this scholarship. We wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next round of scholarship consideration. #faithexcellenceservice #thereisnoplaceliketome

This is an exciting homecoming for both Colleen and the St. James Regional community. Colleen is a graduate of St. Madeline-St. Rose School, while her father and brothers were St. James High School alumni. Colleen and her husband, Patrick, are also the parents of SJR students- Maeve and Nora. The McManus family are members of St Madeline Parish. Colleen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University, a Masters of Arts in Education with a focus on Instructional Technology from Seton Hall University, and a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from St. Joseph’s University. She has taught in elementary school and middle school and has spent the last sixteen years at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, where she held positions as an Instructional Technology Specialist and as the Director of Academic Data & Analytics, a pivotal role on the Principal’s administrative team. Colleen is looking forward to meeting all the families of St. James Regional and to partnering with them to provide our children an outstanding academic experience, an environment rich in faith experiences, and an opportunity to shine as children of God.
The 2023 Fun Run by Boosterthon was a huge success thanks to our families, friends, supporters, and benefactors! The goal of the Fun Run was to raise $18,000 for our school to upgrade technology and the sound system. Our students worked so hard running laps to earn their pledges. Their hard work paid off and our students raised $25,000, far exceeding our goal. The class with the most pledges got the chance to silly string the principal and they got him good! Thank you to all for your generosity!
Congratulations to The Saint James Regional School Students who were awarded the American Legion’s Auxiliary Essay Winners as well as the VFW Post 289 Patriots Pen Winner and Teacher of the Year.
Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the blessings of Catholic education. Along with the academic excellence that Philly Catholic schools provide, the affordability of the private education provided in the archdiocese of Philadelphia is another reason for prospective parents to take a look at how our school could be a good fit.
Americans aren’t used to thinking of Halloween as a religious holiday. With all the horror movies, the skulls and gory figurines on peoples’ lawns and the – well, spookiness – the Catholic roots of Halloween now generally lie six feet under people’s minds. This is precisely why it’s time to dig up these roots.
Schools across the nation reported that students fell behind due to distance learning during the COVID pandemic. Not so with Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Since October is the month of the rosary, it may be helpful to reflect on what this powerful prayer means for us and our families. How can the rosary help us grow in our relationship with our Blessed Mother? How can devotion to Mary help form students in and out of the classroom? Three themes come to mind: meditation, service and love.
With the upcoming feast of the archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, it can be helpful to reflect on what they mean for us as Catholics today and what they can mean for a Catholic education.
If education begins at home, this means that parents are the first, primary and fundamental educators of their children. If this is the case, we should take Mary and Joseph as our models of mother, father and teacher.
One big advantage of Catholic education, in addition to academic excellence and being committed to opening children's mind to truth, is that Catholic schools but the lives and examples of the Saints front and center in the classroom.
As families are getting back into the school routine, many are taking a step back and reflecting on their goals for education and what hopes and challenges are facing them on their way.
There are certain skills that prepare our students well for high school and beyond. Here are a few us Catholic educators are proud to nurture and develop in our students.
