Another special course offered at St. James Regional Catholic School is Spanish. Mrs. Kristen McGuire teaches Spanish to our students, helping them learn the Spanish language, as well as learning about the cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. This is her eighth year teaching.
Mrs. McGuire would say reliable, friendly and calm are the three best words to describe her. These three traits certainly help someone teach others, especially when they are teaching others a second language.
In her free time, Mrs. McGuire, also a mother of four, enjoys hiking, camping, reading and traveling. The most recent book she read was How Dare the Sun Rise by Sandra Uwiringiyimana, a Congan refugee and her experience adjusting to American life. As for her love of Spanish-speaking cultures and traveling, Mrs. McGuire hopes to one day visit Machu Picchu in Peru and visit the Andes Mountains.
At St. James, Mrs. McGuire really enjoys that despite students coming from several parishes, they all come together to form one big family. She also enjoys that her fellow teachers at St. James all work together as a team!
