This school year is Diane Frank’s first year teaching at St. James Regional Catholic School, and her 15th year teaching overall. Mrs. Frank grew up in Rockville, Maryland, outside of Washington D.C. At St. James, Mrs. Frank teaches Honors Math to students in grades 5 to 8.
Prior to entering the teaching field, she worked as an accountant. She earned a B.S. in Accounting from St. Vincent College. Upon graduating college, she worked as an auditor for an accounting firm in the Washington D.C. area. She felt teaching was her true calling, so she returned to school to earn an M.A. from Trinity College in Teaching Elementary Education and Teaching Early Childhood Education.
As a math teacher, Mrs. Frank believes math should make sense. She works hard to present concepts in class as logically as possible to help students better understand the subject matter. She utilizes puzzles and art-related activities in her classroom to teach students in a way that makes math more fun.
Mrs. Frank is married with two sons, Justin and Tyler. Mrs. Frank and her husband will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary this August. She hopes to travel to Hawaii to celebrate, as long as COVID “cooperates.”
She is hoping to eat healthier during Lent this year, moving away from pizza and wings and closer to more fruits and veggies. In her free time, she enjoys watching her favorite shows, Dancing with the Stars and Outlander (on Netflix).
Mrs. Frank’s favorite thing about St. James is her students, whom she calls “hands-down, the best students I’ve ever taught!”
