This week we are highlighting 1st grade teacher Mrs.Christina Breen. This is her second year teaching at St. James Regional Catholic School, and her eighth year teaching overall. She previously taught at Our Lady of Mercy, Richboro Elementary, Our Lady of Port Richmond Regional School.
Mrs. Breen received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Chestnut Hill College. Prior to teaching, she worked as a bookkeeper. As a teacher, she takes the time to understand how each student learns, and tailors her lessons to teach in a way that helps each student better understand the material.
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Breen is an active reader, crafter and enjoys cooking new recipes from scratch. She enjoys making wood signs and paintings (that she has been known to create as Christmas gifts). As for books, she enjoys Stephen King novels, as well as books about history.
When asked if she could meet anyone, dead or alive, Mrs. Breen said she’d like to meet with her grandfather again.
“It would be my grandfather,” she said. “He passed away over 20 years ago. He always took the time out to talk things over with a cup of coffee. He had a great sense of humor and a great sense of family. He had always given me good advice and was always there when anyone needed him. I miss him so much.”
One day, Mrs. Breen hopes to visit Ireland again. She has family that live there, and she would love to take the time to visit them and see the sights. Perhaps she could travel with her family, which includes 10 (the 11th on their way) grandchildren!
At St. James Regional Catholic School, Mrs. Breen loves how welcoming and supportive her fellow faculty and staff are for one another. Her students, of course, also make her smile each day no matter what.
