Today we celebrate Miss Kathy Laverty! Miss Laverty is our good-hearted, organized, compassionate, Harry Potter-fanatic 3rd grade teacher. She brings over three decades of teaching experience to the table, but is still learning everyday and calls herself a lifelong learner.
Miss Laverty has been teaching for 36 years! In fact, she has been teaching at St. James Regional Catholic School since we opened in 2012.
In her free time, Miss Laverty enjoys watching The Masked Singer, her favorite television show. She also enjoys reading, particularly, mysteries. The last book she read was Death On Windmill Way by Carrie Doyle.
As a Harry Potter fan, she hopes to travel to England, as well as Scotland. She hopes to see all the places the films were shot.
Miss Laverty loves the St. James community, and loves that the school shares some of the traditions of St. James High School.
“One of my favorite things about St. James is that I get to be part of sharing the traditions of St. James High School,” she said. My dad was a St. James graduate and he had 5 daughters, so he never had a Bulldog in the family until I started working here. I also love the families here at St. James. I feel so lucky to get to work with them and help their children everyday.”
