Today marks the 100th day of school for our St. James Regional community! As our nation approaches the 1-year anniversary of living life in global pandemic, we keep in our prayers those who have lost a family member or friend to COVID-19, the frontline workers who have selflessly kept our communities running, and those that are still suffering the impacts of the virus. We also celebrate the creativity, boldness, faith, and grit of our teachers, staff, Archdiocesan leaders, and families who have worked tirelessly this year to allow all of our students to learn in an environment that keeps them health, safe, and thriving!
On the eve of the first day of school, back in September, veteran kindergarten teacher Shannon Everett felt like "it was her first year of teaching" because she was anxious about making sure she could engage all of her virtual students in the same way she would with her in person students. Her nerves likely made her better. Like teachers in all of our grades, her preparation and commitment to re-inventing lesson plans allowed our students to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually this year.
A number of our families have also enrolled in the virtual learning option offered by St. James Regional. Some have even returned back to in-school learning when they best felt it was safe to do so. Our nimble faculty utilized every resource available to make sure each of our families had options that best suited their needs. We are especially proud of our faculty and staff for finding solutions to keep every family growing in faith and knowledge.
While the weather did not cooperate and kept us learning virtually today, our friends at Sign Dreamers of Delaware County surprised our community with this celebratory sign to honor our acheivement and commitment to learning and growing in this uncertain year.
